When two of my favourite things are combined – music & robots – it may be my best day ever.
Self-described “world’s heaviest metal band” Compressorhead, is a trio of Australian instrument-playing robots that covers heavy metal music. Yes, it is as awesome as it sounds.
The band comprises Stickboy on drums [he has “4 arms, 2 legs, 1 head and no brain”] and he plays a Pearl 14 piece kit with a double kick; Fingers [he has 78 of them] is on guitar and Bones is on bass [“the highest precision bass player in known existence”].
They’ve obviously been practising in their garage, because this cover of Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades” is killer:
If you’re in Australia this month, you can see Compressorhead live at Australia’s Big Day Out Festival, where they’ll be on the bill with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Killers. This will mark the band’s first live show. The set listincludes covers of tunes by The Ramones, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Nirvana and The Clash.
Get ready to bow down to our new metal overlords.
